The Behobia-San Sebastián race is gearing up for a very special edition, and it does so with a significant new feature for thousands of runners: for the first time, it will have official footwear. In this context, Joma has created the first official running shoes for the event, a step that strengthens the bond between the most iconic popular race on the calendar and a brand with a long history in running.
The Toledo-based company joins as a technical sponsor and presents a double launch that aligns with the organization's message this season. Driven by the 50/50 project and the motto "Let's make it possible," Joma offers two options designed for different types of runners, maintaining a functional and unpretentious style, in keeping with the character of the BSS.
Two models for different runner profiles

The R-2000 prioritizes a balance between comfort and dynamism . It incorporates a dual-density midsole with a 10mm drop and FLY REACTIVE compound in the heel area, which cushions impact and provides a smoother transition, while high-density phylon is used in the forefoot to stabilize the stride.
This approach translates into a versatile shoe designed for consistent paces and long runs; a profile very similar to the 20 kilometers of the Behobia race , where the softness of the footfall and the security in each support make a difference as the kilometers go by.
Meanwhile, the R-1000 enhances its performance character with a carbon plate that Joma calls the CARBON PLATE , combined with FLY REACTIVE foam. This plate offers more progressive flex than those designed for purely competitive use, aiming for energy return without sacrificing comfort.
The result is a noticeable yet controlled surge of power, ideal for those who want to pick up the pace without sacrificing cushioning over long distances. It's an option designed to make the most of every kilometer without punishing your legs by the time you reach the Boulevard in San Sebastián.
Construction and technologies
Both models share a very lightweight and breathable upper with a VTS system to promote ventilation , something especially useful in wet sections of the route or when the weather gets complicated between Behobia and Irún.
The fit uses Joma SPORTECH heat sealing to eliminate seams and friction points , achieving a uniform fit that distributes pressure and provides comfort during prolonged exertion.
Design, identity and purpose
In terms of aesthetics, both versions incorporate the colors and emblem of the Behobia-San Sebastián race as a distinctive feature. It's a nod to the character of the race and its community: sixty editions of history, shared effort, and atmosphere , now also reflected in the official footwear.
The collaboration aligns with the BSS 50/50/25 initiative, which aims for true parity at the starting line. Within this framework, the motto “50/50 Let's make it possible” serves as the guiding principle for a proposal that seeks to include a wider range of runners, from those who prioritize stability to those who seek greater responsiveness.
With two complementary options, the R-2000 for runners who value constant stability and cushioning, and the R-1000 for those seeking extra speed and responsiveness, the first official shoes of the Behobia-San Sebastián race establish themselves as a versatile option that fits the spirit of the event and the real needs of the amateur runners.
